about

This here is a song about the Birmingham pub bombings in 1974. Two pubs were attacked on the 21st of November killing 21 and injuring many others. One of the pubs was called Mulberry Bush which was the inspiration for this song.

We will donate half of what you give to the Acorn's Hospice and Birmingham Children's Hospital who helped the injured the night of the attack.

lyrics

Late November curtain call,
The trees on fire and the season's fall,
The colour of her youth.

Age will find her and giver her a push,
She's tasting the fruit of the mulberry bush
That stains her teeth and clothes.

People will gather to sing and to cheer,
The fruit doesn't usually grow this near
To winter frost and snow.

Can you imagine,
If some cruel heart were to take it away?

Can you imagine,
if she were here now, what would she say?

I am trying not to break down again.

Years have blown the smoke away,
The dust of justice is cold as clay,
We're tangled in the bush.

We never tasted the sweet red fruit
But the red stains time and sustains its roots,
She'll never grow old.

Can you imagine,
If some cruel heart were to take it away?

Can you imagine,
if she were here now, what would she say?

I am trying not to break down again.

Here we go round the mulberry bush,
Mulberry bush, mulberry bush,
Here we go round the mulberry bush,
Early in the morning
